Pharmacy Residency Program

PGY1 Pharmacy Residency

Develop your foundational knowledge

The Post Graduate Year One (PGY1) pharmacy residency program offers diverse experiences in clinical pharmacy practice as well as in health-system pharmacy practice.

Program overview

The PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

The 12-month program is tailored to fulfill our residents’ individual interests and goals within ASHP accreditation standards. Residents actively participate in staff development programs for clinically oriented services. Longitudinal ambulatory care training establishes individual relationships with patients and other healthcare professionals. Residents also complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification sponsored by the American Heart Association, training them to effectively participate in code blue, trauma and stroke alerts, as well as other patient care emergencies. Several elective options and project opportunities are available for residents to pursue individual interests.
