Expertise in one of the most common treatments for cancer

For radiation therapy to be successful, your treatment plan must be personalized to your unique needs. Your radiation oncologist and specialty trained care team will provide guidance you trust.

Radiation treatments can also be time-consuming. Most types of radiation therapy require traveling to a treatment facility up to five days a week for several weeks in a row. That’s why OhioHealth offers seven convenient locations for radiation treatment, so the very best care is never far from home. Plus, your treatment plan can be accessed and implemented at any of our radiation oncology locations.

Radiation Oncology Locations

You can choose whichever of our seven locations throughout the region is most convenient to you. All of these locations use integrated, state-of-the-art computer technology and advanced medical equipment for radiation treatment.

Your radiation treatment process

Step 1 — Consulting our cancer experts

The purpose of a consultation is to learn more about your cancer and your overall health. This will help us determine whether radiation oncology treatments are the best approach for you.

  • A radiation oncology nurse will talk with you about your current and past medical history, review any medications you may be taking, and answer your questions.
  • A radiation oncologist will examine you, review your medical history, X-rays and test results, and order any additional tests, if needed.
  • The radiation oncologist will also talk with you about how you could benefit from radiation therapy. They will cover the details of treatment and potential side effects as well as answer any questions you have.

Step 2 — Creating your treatment plan

If radiation is recommended by your oncologist and you decide to move forward, we will create a treatment plan for you.

  • During these sessions, which we sometimes call simulations, our radiation oncology team determines the best setup for radiation beams.
  • Our objective is to focus as much radiation as possible on the targeted area without affecting surrounding healthy tissue. Your treatment plan is entirely unique to you.

Step 3 — Beginning your treatment plan

Once your treatment plan is established, we will schedule your treatment sessions.

  • A member of our team will set your appointment up for the same time each day, Monday through Friday, throughout your course of treatment.
  • Our priority is to minimize disruption to your daily routine.
  • You can the treatment location that is most convenient to you. All of our locations feature the same advanced equipment.
